Dye Sublimation

Dye sublimation is the process of turning a water-based dye ink into a gas that bonds with 100% polyester fabric or other polymers. The colors created during this method are very vibrant and nearly limitless.

This may sound like some sort of magic and when you see the final product you will be amazed!  Simply put, first special ink is printed on to special paper.  From there the paper is pressed on to the item at a high temperature. This heat turns the ink to steam which absorbs into the piece and permanently colors it.

Since the substrate is actually dyed with hot steam and the ink is not left on top, this process leaves absolutely NO feel whatsoever.   

The best part about dye sublimination is not only can it be applied to shirts, hats, hoodies and other wearables, but it also can be applied to mugs, koozies, license plates, and 100’s of other items!

The biggest drawback of this method is that the material the ink is applied to must be able to be dyed by it.  This means 100% polyester or a special coating for items that aren’t made of fabric.
