Heat Pressed Transfers

What are Plastisol Transfers?

Heat pressed transfers, aka plastisol transfers, use the same ink as traditional screen printing but instead of applying the ink directly to the garment it is first applied to a special piece of paper.

This paper can then be stored for an extended period and applied to shirts, hoodies, hats, koozies or just about anything else when needed.

This method is especially useful for print on demand situations such as special events, when the sizes and quantities of garments is unknown.  It is also the most cost effective way to print many full color prints on any color of material.

One of our most loyal customers orders 288 plastisol transfers every spring.  Their design has many colors.  They initially get about half of their shirts printed with the first order and then throughout the rest of the year they make several smaller orders as their inventory in a particular size diminishes.  By ordering the plastisol transfers they are able to keep their reoccurring costs down and have a quicker turn around time.

As with all printed garments it is recommended that you wash inside out to extend the life of the print.

PROS:
  • Best for “on location” printing
  • Allows high quality full color prints
  • Affordable when many smaller orders are necessary throughout the year
  • CONS:
  • Potential for “heavy” feel, depending on design
  • Quantities of 100 or more see the greatest cost savings
